Information processed on your device
Tighten processes the following information locally only when needed for the launcher or a feature you choose:
- Installed apps. Android-provided app names, icons, package names, and launch components are used to build the app drawer and launch apps. Complete app visibility is a core function of an Android launcher.
- App usage, screen time, and limits (optional). If you grant Usage Access, Tighten reads Android's local per-app foreground-usage history to show screen-time totals, improve Recents, sort apps by use, and enforce limits on launch attempts made through Tighten. Tighten cannot block an app launched outside Tighten.
- Active-notification app identities (optional Tighten Up feature). If you grant Notification Access, Tighten uses only the package names of apps with active notifications to draw icon underlines. It does not display or store notification titles, message text, people, or attachments.
- Calendar event (optional Tighten Up feature). If you grant read-only Calendar access, Tighten reads the title and start time of the next upcoming event for display on Home. Tighten cannot create, edit, or delete calendar events.
- Battery and audio state. Tighten reads the current battery percentage for its header and the active Bluetooth audio route to surface audio favorites. It does not collect location from Bluetooth.
- Preferences. Theme, typography, layout, Favorites, Recents, time limits, temporary allowances, onboarding state, and other choices are stored locally on the device.
Google Play purchases
Tighten asks Google Play whether the permanent Tighten Up in-app product is owned. Google Play processes the transaction under Google's policies. Tighten receives purchase-state and purchase-token information only to verify, acknowledge, and restore the entitlement. Tighten does not receive or store payment-card or bank-account details.
The last verified entitlement is cached locally so an already verified purchase can remain usable during a temporary Play service interruption. A later successful ownership check can update that status, including after a refund or revocation.
Information collected, shared, or sold
Brent Tech LLC does not operate a Tighten backend, collect launcher activity on a developer server, share launcher activity with third parties, or sell personal information. Optional feature data described above is processed on the device. Purchase processing is performed by Google Play as described above.
Permissions and special access
- Installed-app visibility (`QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES`): required for the core launcher app drawer.
- Usage Access (`PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS`): optional; enables complete screen-time, enhanced Recents, usage sorting, and app-limit enforcement through Tighten.
- Notification Access: optional Tighten Up access; enables app-icon underlines.
- Read Calendar (`READ_CALENDAR`): optional Tighten Up permission; enables the next-event display.
- Google Play Billing: used to offer, verify, acknowledge, and restore the one-time Tighten Up purchase.
Tighten does not request location, contacts, call log, SMS, camera, microphone, storage, Accessibility Service, calendar-write, or notification-posting permission.
Storage, retention, and deletion
Preferences and cached entitlement status remain on your device until you clear Tighten's app storage or uninstall it, subject to Android's backup and device-transfer settings. Recents can also be cleared inside Tighten. You can revoke Usage, Notification, or Calendar access at any time in Android Settings.
Because Tighten has no developer-operated user account or data server, there is no separate server-side Tighten profile to delete.
Security and children's privacy
Tighten minimizes privacy risk by keeping launcher and optional feature data on the device and requesting optional access only for the related feature. Device security, backups, and Google Play transactions are also governed by Android, your device settings, and your Google account.
Tighten is a general-audience utility and is not directed specifically to children. Brent Tech LLC does not knowingly collect children's personal information through a Tighten server because no such server is operated.
Changes to this policy
If Tighten's data practices materially change, this page will be updated and its effective date revised. Any new permission or data use will be described before the related feature is released.
